Technology

For the last two weeks we have been doing technology.  The 3 groups are fun in the bush, save the bush and lost in the bush.  I chose lost in the bush, where we have to create a prototype to help people that get lost in the bush.

We watched a news video, where one of the news hosts (He was called Lachlan, which is my name!) went bush walking with a friend.  When they went off track to find some water, they got lost and had to sleep the night under a sheet.  In the morning, they set off an emergency beacon.  A rescue team found them and brought them back to the start of the walk.

So when you go bush walking, bring sleep gear and fresh change of clothes in case the weather changes.  If you need water, try bring a water bottle and if you don't have one, try not to go to far away from the track.  It is very dangerous.

Anyway, we had to come up with a question about the bush and make a prototype of a solution to our question.  My question was How Do You Keep Warm?  My solution was some socks that have electrical wool that make you warm.  When you put them on, they adjust to your foot's temperature and make your feet the perfect temperature.

My plan

So I started plan in my planning book.  I thought about a lot of prototypes.  But in the end, I chose the socks.  My stuff I needed was: This weird material that you can cut (to make the sock shape), this silver wirery stuff that is rolled up like tape (for the wirery stuff underneath the wool), wool (For the wool) and scissors.

I started by cutting the sock shape out of the material, then traced around it on another piece of the material.  Once that was done, I started to hot glue gun the wire on the sock, then hot glue gun the wool onto the wire.  I also had to cut the wool to put it on the sock.  Then I was done.

If you ever want to create something like this, go for it.  It is very fun.
